SUMMER SCHOOL 3D PRINTING & BIOFABRICATION IS BACK FOR ITS 13TH EDITION
02-04-2026
Applications are now open for the 13th edition of the 3D Printing & Biofabrication Summer School, taking place from 13 to 17 July 2026 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
This advanced, one-week course offers a comprehensive introduction to additive manufacturing and its rapidly expanding role in biomedical applications. Designed for advanced Master’s students and professionals, the programme combines theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, providing participants with both scientific insight and practical skills.
From fundamentals to clinical translation
Additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing, enables the creation of complex structures using layer-by-layer or volumetric fabrication techniques. In the biomedical field, these technologies are increasingly being explored to develop solutions for major healthcare challenges, including tissue repair, disease modeling, and drug screening.
The course covers the fundamentals of 3D printing and biofabrication, while also addressing the critical challenges involved in translating these technologies from research to clinical practice.
Hands-on experience and expert insights
A key component of the programme is its practical focus. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops at the Utrecht Biofabrication Facility, where they will interact directly with experts and gain experience with multiple bioprinting technologies.
In addition, the course features lectures from internationally recognized specialists from both academia and industry. Topics include:
Development of bioinks
3D in vitro models
Control of processing conditions
Translation of biofabrication from bench to bedside
Industry contributions further enrich the programme, offering insights into real-world applications and current technological developments.
