16-12-2025

On December 15th, 2025, Davide Ribezzi successfully defended his PhD thesis “Biofabrication for Diabetes” — and was awarded the distinction Cum Laude for his outstanding contributions to science, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Over the past four years, Davide has been a driving force in the lab, connecting disciplines such as bioprinting, biomaterials design, stem cell biology, optogenetics, and diabetes research. His passion and creativity have been instrumental in pushing forward several complex and ambitious projects.

Davide played a central role in the ENLIGHT project, part of the European Innovation Council (EISMEA), and also bridged efforts with SPRIND – the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation. His work expanded the group’s capabilities in the field of bioprinting the endocrine pancreas, paving the way for next-generation therapeutic approaches.

Davide’s thesis not only reflects deep scientific insight, but also embodies the spirit of cross-disciplinary collaboration and translational impact.

Congratulations, Dr. Ribezzi!
